Barack Obama in His Own Words

He says "Let's be clear."
Yes, let's! That would be so nice!

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Gun control, energy, you name the topic, and the answer depends on who Barack is postulating for.

Too bad he can't remember what he said to others.

He contradicts himself repeatedly.

This is one last push from me for any who are still unsure of how to vote.

I honestly don't know why the Obama followers do not really listen to what Obama is saying. Gosh, it looks like Obama doesn't even know what he is saying or has said.

Thanks for your last effort.

I have voted. MCCAIN-PALIN '08

Look,

If you're going to claim that I'm only voting for Obama because "I haven't listened to what he's saying" I can just as easily say:

"I honestly don't know why the McCain supporters allow their racist tendencies influence their votes..."

Don't generalize people, if you don't want to be generalized in return.

I can promise you that I am *as informed* if not *more informed* than you are about each of the candidates, so I don't need to hear your lectures about what I know and don't know.

I don't agree with your candidate, and I support mine - get over it, and stop pretending to have some sort of knowledge high ground.

McCain supporters allow their racist tendencies influence their votes..

Are you kidding me.

Yes, there will be those who will not be able to vote for Obama because he is black, but I think there are many, many more who will vote for Obama because he is black either because they are of the same race or because they are white and feel that they owe blacks reparations, or even because they want to be able to say they voted for the first African American.

Either way it's racist.

Granted, this is an historic election. I would love to be able to say that I voted for the first African American, first Hispanic or the first Female for President. However, I don't want to say I did it for that reason, the person has to be up to the task, and for me B.O. is not that person!!!

Brian

Look,

Just because someone doesn't vote for OBAMA doesn't mean he/she is a racist. I am tired of the Race Card being played.

I have voted for John S. McCain because he is the better choice and I know what I will be getting if he is President.

I don't know Barack Hussein Obama, I don't even know where he came from and how he got here. What change he wants to bring maybe a change that we all do not want.

You don't know how informed I am, but I have done my homework and what I learned about Obama I don't like.

So I support John McCain who say's COUNTRY FIRST

No, I'm *not* kidding you, but if you'd take your blinders off, you'd realize I was merely making a point.

I realize subtlety and nuance is difficult to pick up on when you're bound and determined to make a narrow-minded comment, but perhaps in the future you can read something, take it in, mull it over, and *then* decide whether you want to make the comment you wanted to make initially.

I don't feel sorry for you, I simply feel like having a back and forth with you would be an utter waste of time.

I don't know Barack Hussein Obama, I don't even know where he came from and how he got here. What change he wants to bring maybe a change that we all do not want.

Bully for you. I *do* know what I need to know about Obama. I *do* know where he came from, and how he got here. I *don't* care if you disagree with his stances on policy, because that's your right.

I *do* object to you making a claim that just because *you* didn't take the time to get to know him, or that you're willing to believe the bull@!$%# lies about his place of birth, that it someone means *other people* are uninformed.

This isn't about your views on Obama's policy stance, it's about your bull@!$%# assumption that other people aren't informed, simply because they're voting for the guy you don't like.

And, if you're going to make baseless assumptions about me, don't whine when I make baseless assumptions about you.

Believe me Brian, Obama's birth certificate is not what I am talking about. The people that he has befriended along the way in life is enough to tell me where is values are.

I don't care about his color, except most of the people voting for him does in one way or another and that is why they are voting for him. That is being racist.

You call me whining? I don't think that is what I was doing, you attacked me on the being informed or the lack of it, and I defended it, that is not whining.

The people that he has befriended along the way in life is enough to tell me where is values are.

So, it seems that *now* you claim that you *do* know something about him, and you don't like it. That's exactly the claim I made when you made your first comment.

I know those things also, I've read about the relationships, and I've come to the conclusion that they don't mean a damn thing. Now, would you like to take back your assertion that I "don't know Obama" or are you going to persist in generalizing and claiming that those who are voting for him don't know him? Do you want to continue to claim that people who *you don't know* are voting based on a criteria that *you want to believe* is the reason behind their vote? How do you presume to speak for other people?

I suspect you'll stick with the generalization, because you've already thrown out another bull@!$%# generalization by claiming that people are only voting for him because he's black.

You call me whining?

Yes. You continue to make baseless assumptions about people and then whine when I make a baseless assumption about you. I'll go ahead and tack "hypocritical" onto that, now that I think of it.

So, until you back off your ludicrous claims that Obama supporters "don't know him" and that they are only voting for him "because he's black..." I'm going to continue to claim that McCain supporters are racist, and therefore they're voting for the white guy.

I'm not saying *you* are racist, but hey -- you're a McCain supporter. I can't help it if you're swept up into my overly broad generalization.

Brain

Obama’s Communist Mentor

It turns out that Obama's childhood mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, was a communist.
The record shows that Obama was in Hawaii from 1971-1979, where, at some point in time, he developed a close relationship, almost like a son, with Davis, listening to his "poetry" and getting advice on his career path. But Obama, in his book, Dreams From My Father, refers to him repeatedly as just "Frank."

Obama's communist connection adds to mounting public concern about a candidate who has come out of virtually nowhere, with a brief U.S. Senate legislative record, to become the Democratic Party frontrunner for the U.S. presidency.

and this article has a lot more information in it.

But this is somewhat off topic, but backing up what I said he I don't know where exactly where he came from and exactly how he got here.

Who is behind him? So if I have my doubts, then I would not vote for him I don't care what color his skin is.

I honestly don't know why the Obama followers do not really listen to what Obama is saying.

Look, don't try and shift your argument now.

That's was your initial comments, wherein you tried to make claims about what other people know about Obama.

We've listened, and we simply think that all of the rhetoric that you're clinging to is either 1) bull@!$%# or 2) unimportant.

Either way, we *know* who we're voting for, why we're voting for him, where he came from, and your claims about us are crap, and if you continue to make them, I'll continue to generalize about you.

I think that you are probably falling under fatigue as well as the rest of us.

I'm not sure how much more clear I can be:

If it's okay to say that Obama's supporters don't know enough about him or that they're voting for him simply because he's black, it's also okay to say that McCain's supporters are basing their vote on latent racism.

Both are unsupportable claims, in the end. I've only made the latter claim in mock response to the former claim.

But, bluster and indignation? Sure. I admit, the bull@!$%# meter is running on overdrive, in the last days of this election, and I can't wait until it's over. But, there's an awful lot of bull@!$%# and unsupported foaming at the mouth these days, and I hate lazy arguments, and -- in my view -- generalizations are about the laziest form of argument there is.

I would say that 95% of the political commentary on Newsvine in the last few weeks has been comprised of lies, assumptions, outrageous claims and desperation politics. It's tiring to confront it, and it leads to indignation, yes -- but I'm not sure that the indignation is the problem.

It's a clear indication of the type of people supporting McCain; those who believe in selective and vicious distortion of the truth. It is the very Bush crowd that has brought the US to its knees and inviting derision from intelligent people from all over the world. The enemies of the US reads the opinion of this type of Americans with glee and hope the majority of US Americans are like that. It'll be easy to beat them.

Fortunately, the majority of Americans are not like this McCain and Bush crowd. They happen to be the stupid group ( substantially large enough group ) who got conned by Kark Rove's boys into voting the stupidest man to become the US president. And look at the consequences!

There are enough good, intelligent and hard working Americans to turn the country around; here's hoping they get control of the country and make it decent and powerful again. McCain is worse than Bush; he is enormously more egotistical, greedy and arrogant. And he is supported by the racist, uneducated and stupid group that American enemies would like to have representing US decisions. I hope not!
